I was in Toronto this week and, other than the unseasonably warm weather I enjoyed, also had a great conversation with a client that crystalized some things for me about how Enterprise 2.0 methods can transform information sharing. He works for one of the Big 5 Canadian banks in retail operations, and when I asked him if he used social media in his personal life, he said no, but that he lived vicariously through his wife and daughter who both were avid Facebookers
What doesn't seem consistent, however, is how a federal agency steeped in security and secrecy for the protection of its home country can invest in a foreign company whose flagship product is steeped in information sharing! No doubt the devil, as it always is, is in the details, and given who is providing funding, we will likely never really know what those details are

We need Enterprise 2.0 to provide rapid and agile collaboration, information sharing and emergence in the extended enterprise
