This requirement can generally be filled in one of two ways: either the certified professional can take the then-current exam periodically (which presumably is being updated regularly), or the professional can do continuing education in the areas covered by the exam. Most certifications offer a framework for continuing education and the Certified Information Professional (CIP) is no different. CIPs are required to document 45 contact hours of continuing education over the course of a three-year period and must also pay a maintenance fee of $75 for AIIM members or $150 for non-members for that same period
CIP Enforces Continuing Education One of the most important parts of CIP is continuing education...Vendors and partners can use continuing education as a way to promote their team’s value

For any questions about the conference, the CIP, or these ICRM continuing education credits please contact Jesse Wilkins, CIP, CRM, at jwilkins@aiim.org
At the end of the three-year period, Information Certified professionals will be required to submit 45 continuing education credits and pay a modest fee, or take the exam again
" At the same time, it is clear that nobody has the expertise to be a CRM , and PMP , and CBAP , and CISSP , and CIPP , and every other certification under the sun - if you tried to do that you'd be doing nothing else but studying and doing continuing education
