     The AIIM Oil and Gas SIG Leadership group are exploring an opportunity to publish a list of Oil and Gas specific IM Standards and Guidelines on the AIIM SIG website. I have attached a list of generic IM standards for your perusal. However, if you are aware of any specific Oil and Gas IM Standards and Guidelines please respond to this post to get the list started.

    Good start! I know that SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) has a collection of papers that have guidelines and best practices for information management in our industry. For example:

    BIM (Building Information Modeling) is currently attracting some attention within the oil and gas industry in the UK. Based on PAS1192.2 (with PAS1192.3 on the way), BIM offers a standard approach to managing information throughout the life-cycle of an asset.

    The UK government has already mandated that all public construction projects have to implement BIM by 2016 based on demonstrable cost savings of up to 20%.

    Discussions are currently underway between the IM Energy Forum in Aberdeen and the BIM Task Group about the possibility of establishing a 'BIM Oil and Gas Group'.

    Please find attached another list of generic standards related to IM. I haven't checked in detail but, clearly, there is some overlap with your list Andy - also some additional items.

    The list was compiled by the IM Energy Forum in Aberdeen.

    Here's a list which shows a bunch of standards (some already mentioned by Katie & the IM Energy Forum), but with specific ones relating to oil & gas upstream operations. You may also be interested to know that DNV GL are working on a joint industry project about subsea documentation (more information available from martin.fowlie@...).
