We had modified the standard New and Edit forms for a custom list, and we even personalized those forms for the users
When using a lookup column in a custom list in SharePoint, you have the option to “enforce relationship behavior” where you can prevent items from the lookup list from being deleted once they are selected, or you can cause a cascade-delete action to occur
Audit trails do not show why items were edited, and that might become important. We use a custom list in SharePoint to track our database changes
Forms – I was so proud recently when I created robust and sharp versions of the “New” and “Edit” form for a custom list. When I showed one of the primary users of the list the new forms, he said “ oh, I never use those; I switch to the Data Sheet view and enter / edit items there
Next Stop – The custom list I use to store the minutes I prepare and the correspondence I get from the AIIM NE chapter as well as the information I keep from Toastmasters (where I am also an officer)
Lists can be stored as custom list templates, allowing you to make your own custom lists available as a starting point for inclusion in multiple team sites
