Is the information in the audit logs meaningful by themselves?...In many systems, to get meaning from the information, you need not just the audit logs, but the list of system users and relevant information on the content
This means that all those personal documents and emails, Facebook and Twitter updates, audit logs, security cameras, etc. are all discoverable
I have engaged in a number of conversations over recent weeks regarding the treatment of system audit logs from a Records Management perspective, in particular regarding retention

Turn on auditing so that the audit logs can see which users are accessing which documents
Deleting sites containing records ISSUE It must not be possible (either on purpose or accidentally) to delete sites containing documents declared as records as this would effectively remove the document, history and audit log contained with the site
