Information Certification Now Available

I am pleased to announce that the Information Certification is available as of today, September 23, 2011. The cost of the exam is $265 and candidates will have 2 hours to complete the 100-question exam. The exam is administered through Prometric test centers worldwide and is available on demand. The exam blueprint is available at http://www.aiim.org/~/media/Files/Training/Info-Cert/Information-Certification-Examination-Objectives.pdf.

Candidates who successfully complete the exam will be certified for three years. At the end of the three-year period, Information Certified professionals will be required to submit 45 continuing education credits and pay a modest fee, or take the exam again. Credits will be given for any educational activity that relates to the topics covered on the exam.

The exam itself was developed by subject matter experts from a wide variety of backgrounds and followed the process outlined in ISO 17024. It will be updated regularly based on changes to technology and changes in best practices.

Candidates are not required to join AIIM to take the exam, nor are Information Certified Professionals required to join AIIM as a condition of certification. AIIM is developing and will offer some free training materials that candidates can use to prepare for the exam but no particular training course is required in order to take the exam.
