Together, we are AIIM!
This week we meet Maureen Hearn, Program Manager, Global Education Services. Maureen started at AIIM in June of 2007. She originally worked as production manager for our magazine then transferred over her attention to detail to our professional development department.
Maureen is a local girl, she was born in Virginia and her family moved to Maryland shortly after. She’s lived in Hyattsville and Beltsville and now calls Silver Spring home, just 3 miles from HQ. She lives with: 2 teenagers, Amalia Sophia and Julian; 1 significant other, Matt- the Cat Whisperer; 2 cats, Zachary and Ruby-both were neighborhood strays; and 1 canine companion, Milo, a rescue dog. It's clear her family likes to rescue things.
With a good heart and calm demeanor she holds down the fort in Professional Development with everything from A-Z. Let’s meet Maureen.

What do you do and what do love about it?
I anticipate, respond, fix, explain calm nerves… at work and at home. Events and experiences are ever-changing and keeping me on my toes. Boredom? I laugh at you. No time.
Describe yourself using 3 words only.
Nimble. Thoughtful. Energetic.
What are you proudest of?
My Kids. It takes enormous amounts of thought and energy to raise them without being too authoritarian or too hands off, you have to strike a good balance and know when to let go -- trusting that most of the time they will make really good choices.
At work, my ability to seem calm and respond when challenges arise. I may not be calm inside but you will never see me sweat.
What movie, no matter how many times you’ve seen it, do you have to watch when it’s on?
To Kill a Mockingbird
Summer or Winter?
Both.
Favorite color?
Green.
What do you do for fun?
Hang with my kids, we play games; go on short weekend road trips to visit family and friends. I’m a big fan of their sports and support them wholeheartedly. I also hike. We’ve gone to Yellowstone, California, Pennsylvania, Maine, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Wyoming. I really want to hike in Alaska –talk about bears. On my bucket list is Sierra Nevada in California, Machu Picchu in Peru, and Denali in Alaska. Exited that I am going to Olympic National Park in Washington state this summer. I backpack and just go for it. We hike, then sleep, eat, then hike some more. You can hike between 6-10 miles a day. I’m also teaching my daughter how to drive, hope I can remain calm for this one! No sweat!
