This week we meet Joe Ryan, Senior Account Executive.  Joe has worked with AIIM since November 1997. He is from Elmhurst, Illinois, USA and now lives in Ithaca, New York. Joe will be married 20 years this summer to Jessica and has two awesome kids Gil (17) and Rebecca (14).  He is a true go-getter, from consistently coming up with new ideas to beating out the competition in a dance contest - he’s got the perfect moves! Let’s meet Joe.

What do you do and what do love about it?

I manage AIIM’s relationships with vendor companies, focused on sales goals across our B2B portfolio; and connecting vendors with our training offerings. I love making new contacts and keeping the connection with old ones, getting them thinking AIIM thoughts and plugging them into opportunities to that grow their AIIM partnership. I love it when they tell me “our AIIM activity has been great and we want to do more with you in the future!”

Describe yourself using 3 words only.

Calm. Competitive. Analytical.

What are you proudest of?

I am proud to be one among a group of people at AIIM who’ve shaped and reshaped our vendor activities over the past 10+ years and then delivered it, allowing us to maintain and grow important partnerships. Not so long ago we offered magazine ads, posters, user guides, a printed book, about 20 different Road Show cities, “headlines”, and “microsites”, all pieces of the past now. We have moved with the times and anticipated demand, together as an agile and responsive team. It has been a privilege to play a part.

On the personal side, I’m half of a team at home turning two teens into young adults, while we all stay close with family near and far. As for fun/pride, this year my Dad (89) retired from golf and tapped me as his replacement in a big tournament he and my older brother had played successfully for years; and we won it for him. Wait . . . no – that was cool, but how can we forget my dancing victory at the AIIM Christmas party ~2007: my dancemat version of “Lady’s Night” earned the A- beating out my nearest rival’s B+ in the finals (it was not really that close though). I still have the photo of John Mancini crowning me with the champion’s blinking antlers on the old cell phone in my junk drawer.

What movie, no matter how many times you’ve seen it, do you have to watch when it’s on?

O Brother Where Art Thou: Coen brothers and Clooney at their best. “Well now, ain’t this a geographical oddity? Two weeks from everywhere!”

My wife calls me (among other things) the “3G Man”: for Golf, Guitar and Gardening.
