Behind the AIIM logo is a group of passionate and dedicated professionals focused on serving our wonderful community of information professionals.

Together, we are AIIM!

This week we go “across the pond” to our United Kingdom (UK) Office to meet Lisa Powell, Financial Controller, AIIM UK Office. Lisa has been with AIIM since April 2005. She is from Kidderminster, Worcestershire in the United Kingdom and now lives in in a small village called Wichenford – still in Worcestershire.  She didn’t move very far and her children go to the same school she attended. Lisa lives in a 17th Century farm house with her husband, 3 children, horse, dogs, and cats. She works hard and plays hard too! From multicurrency-transactions to mud-running, she’s got it covered. Let’s meet Lisa.

Lisa Powell

Financial Controller, AIIM UK Office

What do you do and what do love about it?

I am the Finance “department” for AIIM in the UK. I enjoy seeing a job through from start to finish. From raising an invoice and applying payment through to running the monthly management account, to taking AIIM through the Year-End audit each year. Although AIIM is a relatively small business the complexity of the work it carries out brings variety and new scenarios to deal with on a daily basis. I enjoy the sense of achievement of a clean audit each year knowing I have done my job to the best of my abilities.

Describe yourself using 3 words only.

Fun-loving. Tenacious. Accident-prone.

What are you proudest of?

Professionally – qualifying in my professional accountancy exams and later gaining Fellowship of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Personally – raising three beautiful, talented and hardworking children who make me a proud Mom every day.

What movie, no matter how many times you’ve seen it, do you have to watch when it’s on?

Pretty Woman – know the script by heart

Summer or Winter?

Summer for sure – winter is too much like hard work with horses!

Favorite color?

What do you do for fun?

I compete with my horse in Dressage and also ride for pleasure (when I’m not falling off). I also compete in Triathlon, Aquathlon and running events. I am addicted to exercise and am usually found swimming, cycling, running, or circuit training every day… when I’m not exercising I’m usually watching a sport of some kind. I love to run in charity races which raises money for charities close to my heart. Also, I have a passion for running extreme mud running events, getting extremely cold, muddy, and very, very tired!
