Carl: Hello, I want to thank you for allowing me to interview you and for the record, can you provide my readers with some insight as to who you work for and with a description of your role?
Student from London, England: I am a Public Health Consultant with an UK Ministry.
Carl: When did you get the idea to make AIIM Education part of your training focus and what were the drivers for the decision?
Student from London, England: I was very interested in learning more about electronic records management and on how I can improve the management of records within my department. I learned of the AIIM website and felt this course would be valuable to me.
Carl: What do you see as a benefit for you and future attendees of these programs?
Student from London, England: I gained valuable information on the computer systems that are available to manage our records. I became much more aware of the principles of records management which will be very helpful seeing that we do not currently have an ERM solution in house. The tips on managing files on local drives and network share drives were very useful along with the security that can be put in place for storing files in such locations and mobile locations. There were good discussions on the many topics which broadened my perspective on managing records.
Carl: For the future, how do you see the role of AIIM education evolving in relation to you and/or your customers?
Student from London, England: I enjoyed the discussions on the many aspects of ERM between the instructor and the other students. I really enjoyed participating in the group exercises. The course material was extensive and very thorough. I can see taking other courses from AIIM.
Carl: Is there anything else you might want to share with our readers related to AIIM Training and how it has been of benefit to you and may be of benefit to them?
Student from London, England: The instructor made it clear that ERM is not just a low level activity. It was insightful to appreciate ERM as a corporate administrative function that requires senior management support, oversight and funding. Another key perspective was that the practice of ERM was every employee’s business. I picked up substantial knowledge from the course material and the discussions held throughout the class.
Carl: I want to thank you, for taking time to talk with me and for sharing your valuable insights and perspectives with our readers.
