Carl: Hello, I want to thank you for allowing me to interview you and for the record, can you provide my readers with some insight as to who you work for and with a description of your role?

Student from Ottawa, ON: I work for Canadian Government.  I am a Manager with the Enterprise Content Management Business Solutions.

Carl:  When did you get the idea to make AIIM Education part of your training focus and what were the drivers for the decision?

Student from Ottawa, ON: I was aware of AIIM, particularly from the chapter activities that are going on in Ottawa, and AIIM’s extensive library of courses. I signed up for the ECM Master class to gain more extensive knowledge on enterprise content management.

Carl:  What do you see as a benefit for you and future attendees of these programs?

Student from Ottawa, ON: I gained valuable information on the broad scope of ECM and its many components - also on metadata and the importance of taxonomies.  The real benefit of the class is that it got me thinking outside those issues that I face every day at work.  I was able to step back and gain a broader perspective to what I am doing.  I gained new perspectives to many aspects of ECM and the discussions during the class opened new insights that I had not realized.

Carl:  For the future, how do you see the role of AIIM education evolving in relation to you and/or your customers?

Student from Ottawa, ON: I actually loved all of the workshop.  The course content, supported by additional resources and the modules, online, will contribute to the knowledge and understanding that I have of ECM.  It will make my work easier when I get back to the office.

Carl: Is there anything else you might want to share with our readers related to AIIM Training and how it has been of benefit to you and may be of benefit to them?

Student from Ottawa, ON:  I thoroughly enjoyed the student interaction and appreciated the facilitation skills of the instructor.  I knew some of the content and in that small area, it acted as a review.  The class got me engaged with the other students and I think all of the students benefited from the interaction.  The new ideas and approaches to handling aspects of ECM were very worthwhile.  Both the structure of the course and the material presented will get me to look at other courses offered by AIIM.

Carl: I want to thank you, for taking time to talk with me and for sharing your valuable insights and perspectives with our readers.

I will be speaking at the following events:

August 14th – 17th, 2012  AIIM ERM Master class in Chicago, IL

August 21st– 24th, 2012  AIIM ECM Master class in Dallas, TX

September 18th– 21st, 2012  AIIM ECM Master class in Amsterdam
