How long have you worked in Information Management? More than 20 years across industries from Government, Energy, Banking and Consulting in Police, Government, Retail, Engineering and Non-Profit (church)
What does your work entail? Do you have company support? How are you helping drive the goals of your office through your work? A friend recently introduced me as a "Swiss Army Knife of Digital Transformation.” Whether it’s a long-term partnership or for quick wins, I help groups that are just starting or deep into their transformation. Before, during, or after, we can do it all. My work involves developing and implementing strategies for organizations to balance regulations around the management of content along with the desire to innovate by making paper-based practices electronic and automated. Over the course of my career, I've worked with long-tenured and short-lived groups of information management professionals to push out strategies, policies, technologies, and ongoing services to convert organizational practices into compliant and easy to use business processes. One day I'm assessing O365 records compliance, the next day I'm developing an automated solution for process improvement. Goals I've helped organizations achieve include; converting an in-person church to an online experience (YouTube streaming, online donations, online seat booking, online service booking); simplifying a company-wide purchasing process from over 45 days to 3 days; making paperless offices whereby the electronic records are legally compliant. By specializing in Governance, Data, Technology, Change Management, and Process Simplification, I support the interconnected journey of digital transformation.
What's your current biggest work challenge? Making in-person work cultures translate into online work cultures. It’s the quiet or less tech-savvy people that I love to learn from. Their work is valuable, and their thoughts even more so. It's challenging being comfortable in front of a webcam and using online collaboration tools. I believe that there is the next wave of cultural evolution that we are living in now. I feel it a lot as well in classrooms as my child recently began his 1st year of school online. This new culture is still shaping itself and learning what 'engagement' means in the online domain.
What does Intelligent Information Management mean to you? Leveraging tacit knowledge to drive better customer value, office productivity innovation, collaboration, and risk mitigation.
What are the top 3 things you are looking to get from your AIIM Membership? Well, I've been a big fan of AIIM since joining over 13 years ago! They continue to be a leading source of (1) knowledge, (2) historical insight, and (3) a community of professionals who pioneer the future of information management.
What's one thing you are looking forward to in 2021? A global rebalancing of social distancing and WFA (working from anywhere). This paradigm shift has been challenging but also presents a new way in which the world will both culturally indefinitely operate under.
What is your end goal and how do you think we can help you achieve it? I build very special relationships with companies and help them achieve Digital Transformation through long-term engagements and pinch-hitting (moving their goals along one win at a time). Now, with operating my own business, I'd like to continue to help organizations grow and move forward while continuing to partner with other industry professionals
