Nov 3, 10:45 - 12:45 (CT)
Join your fellow AIIM Southwest members on November 3 at 11 AM for an informative session with Glen Hilford and Claudette Llloyd from Access Sciences. They will present an overview of Artificial Intelligence, including the AI techniques that are most applicable to Information Governance.
Virtually overnight, AI has become the hottest thing on the planet. It can dazzle us with its near-mystical capabilities and frustrate us as it attempts to anticipate our every need. Its evangelists insist that it will make the world a better place. But just what is it? What is this thing we call AI?
Paradigm shifts are hard, and often full of surprises. The tectonic shift that AI imposes only magnifies these challenges. Are we prepared to face them? Are we equipped with the knowledge and forethought to wager our organization’s money, time, people, energy, organizational stability, and reputation on AI?
This session presents an overview of Artificial Intelligence, the AI techniques that apply to most mainstream organizations, and those that are most applicable to IG. They illustrate one of these techniques with a real-world case study of an AI knowledge graph that uses semantics to define taxonomies and ontologies that model and connect business information.
Along the way, they will discuss the benefits, risks, and surprises frequently encountered in the application of AI as it relates to information management and governance. They wrap up by discussing critical questions organizations should ask when considering an AI investment.
Glen began working with AI in the mid-90s, quickly recognizing its value and unique information governance needs. In 2007, after successful AI implementations at two Fortune 500 companies, he joined Access Sciences to start its technology services practice with a focus on information management and governance. Today, he focuses on corporate growth and leads Access Sciences’ AI practice.
Over the past 15 years, Glen has spoken at numerous events hosted by ARMA International, ARMA chapters including Houston, San Antonio, The Woodlands, Tulsa, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans, AIIM International, Enterprise Data World, Microsoft Global Energy Forum, Microsoft / SAP / OpenText Triumvirate Tour, and the University of Houston.
Glen earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Houston. In his spare time, you can find him woodworking, traveling, supporting Blessings in a Backpack and College Young Life, and honing his oenophile skills.
Claudette is passionate about developing systems, processes, and tools to organize, access, and manage information assets. She loves to approach complex processes and systems, and develop simple solutions to extract value and insight from unstructured data and digital content.
In her role as a Principal Consultant, Claudette has spoken at various events hosted by ARMA International, ARMA Houston, the Special Libraries Association’s Annual Conference, Enterprise Data World and the Texas Department of Information Services
Today, Claudette is Access Sciences’ resident expert on AI knowledge graphs.
The event begins at 10:45 AM with networking with other attendees. The program will start at 11:00 AM.
