In the early 1990's, when I still had hair on top of my head, I was working for Wang Labs, remember Wang? During that time I was demonstrating Wang Integrated Imaging System at conferences and shows across the country. At that time it was not uncommon for an annual AIIM show to draw over 20,000 attendees. Since that time quite a bit has changed.
So one has to ask, has the the time past for Imaging, ECM, workflow? As a independent consultant, with over 20 years in this industry, I would say that the time is just beginning. However, to be successful, one has to understand the different type of sponsors for this technology and what each one of them require to initiate and sponsor a funded project.
Sponsors of paperless technology initiatives (ECM, Workflow, ERM) can include General Legal Counsel, Chief Information Officer, Operational Line of Business - Directors, Group Managers / Individuals, Information Governance, and Records Managers. In the following blogs I will detail out my perspective of what each one of these sponsors are looking for and what we need to do to help them be successful.
