They love the iPads, but the Datasheet view they use doesn’t work on the iPad’s mobile browser. It seems that the “grid” view is one of those pesky things that still require Internet Explorer. We can’t make the Datasheet view work, but we can make an iPad view by using Data View Web Parts, that comes pretty close
When we showed the (two) users of this list the revised form, they both said “ I never use the form, I use the Datasheet view ”…sigh. Personally, I hate the Datasheet view; I see the Datasheet view as Excel’s way of mocking my work in SharePoint
When I showed one of the primary users of the list the new forms, he said “ oh, I never use those; I switch to the Data Sheet view and enter / edit items there. ” Not only was I surprised, I realized that one of the pick lists in my shiny new forms would never be visible in the Data Sheet view, so I had failed to meet the requirements
