When:  Dec 17, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM (ET)
Associated with  AIIM Open Forum

Millennials are the latest generation to enter into the information management workforce. Despite being the first generation to have computers in schools, this latest crop of information professionals are facing (and addressing) many challenges within their organizations. As an older millennial in a management position, Samara has been tackling systems that are primarily paper processes to mitigating the risks of unchecked productivity applications in sensitive data environments. Join AIIM for her chat about battling whiplash between fighting for resources for outdated analog structures, educating her organization on the changing standards within information management, and attempting to set expectations and policies as her institution ramps up the adoption of new software systems.

Speaker

Samara Carter
Records Officer

Samara Carter is the University Records Officer for George Mason University. She took an unconventional route to information management by first earning her MLS in Archives and Records Management at the University of Maryland's iSchool. Her greatest success at Mason has been key stakeholder buy-in to the idea of data as records and the importance of prioritizing paper-to-digital transitions. She is currently completing her CRM and will soon after take the CIP exam.
