Emily J. Nelson, Flight Director, Mission Operations Directorate, came to the Johnson Space Center as an employee of United Space Alliance (USA) in September of 1998 as an International Space Station (ISS) Thermal Operations and Resources Flight Controller (ThOR), where she supported numerous ISS Expeditions and assembly flights. In 2004 she was hired by NASA and continued to support the ISS program as a ThOR, and supported the Constellation program as a leader in information architecture development until May, 2007, when Emily was selected as a Flight Director. Emily has since served as Flight Director or Lead Flight Director on ten flights from Houston and Japan, including the upcoming ISS Expedition 46 mission. Emily’s special honors include NASA’s Outstanding Leadership Medal, Exceptional Service Medal, and the Exceptional Achievement Medal.

As always, a huge thank you goes out to our sponsors, Access Sciences and Gimmal, who continue to make each of our chapter events a huge success!
