AIIM Member's Hour: Critical Conversation - What No One Wants To Say About DEI

DEI has become this boogeyman that no one wants to talk about. Conversations on this topic can be hard and awkward, but how do we push past it and get to the heart of the matter. When information management decisions are made within a monolith of gender, religion, sexuality and race then unhealthy biases can create negative results. Plenty of research has been done on this by scholar like Joy Bualomwini, Safiya Noble and others. Instead of looking at the problems others have surfaced, this critical conversation will be about hurdles to diversity, equity and how we move past them to create teams where every voice is welcome. This will be an interactive conversation that will equip attendees to be better teammates and team leaders so that they can make everyone feel like they belong. Just all rising tides lift all ships, we all excel when we are able to include teams that are diverse, equitable and inclusive.
