Special Interest Group: Women in Information Management (WIIM)
The ever-changing world of Information Management aka "The Digital Revolution" is expanding our access to knowledge and impacting how we interact and communicate with others. Despite the requirement for technology skills in this new environment, a key success factor in building your career involves the fundamental ability to network, communicate, interact and build effective interpersonal relationships within your business and social communities. However, our WFH Virtual environment has added yet another complexity into the networking equation.
While some reference "networking" as an "art form" - it is, in actuality, a learned skill. One does not have to possess the personality of an extrovert in order to become a successful virtual networker. As is the case with all skills learning situations, effective virtual networking requires developing a strategy, putting it into practice, and being committed to succeed. Adopting a virtual networking process that works for you will result in creating a network of trusted colleagues, friends and business partners who have the potential to expand your personal and professional opportunities. Your ability to become an effective virtual networker will serve as a differentiator in your search to achieve success.
