Special Interest Group: Women in Information Management (WIIM)

Topic: AIIM Conference and WIIM

Morning!

I am wondering if there will be any planned networking events for WIIM members at the upcoming AIIM conference in San Antonio?  It looks like we are a fairly quiet group so far based on the posts/responses, so perhaps a social/learning event at the conference would give members a chance to connect in person and share ideas/challenges/solutions that are unique to our experiences as women in this field.  Thoughts?

Great idea Carah--we are planning a reception at AIIM18 for the WIIM community. Definitely agree that the face to face time will help us form some connections and further direction. I'm copying @Georgina Clelland to share more on that.

We're also going to develop a volunteer leadership team for the community to help steer vision and goals. Anyone interested, please respond to this thread to let us know of your interest. We'll also talk about this in our next webinar on Feb 20th.

Again, thanks @Carah Koch -- definitely hope to get you involved in the leadership team:)

Can we do something similar at the AIIM London event please?  We had a quick session last year which was very interesting, so perhaps we need to look at what can/should/want to do to progress the non-USA branch?

Hi all,

Thank you so much for asking about our planned activities at AIIM18, I'm definitely planning on getting this group together for a few different sessions. We'll be having our Happy Hour again for networking, but also working on getting some sessions together, in a variety of formats, led by WIIM members.  Thinking about some roundtable sessions, and a talk show style session, let's share some experiences and advice, both industry topics but general worldly issues too.

Regarding AIIM Forum, I will absolutely talk to Debs in the UK and share our plans for San Antonio and see what we can do for that event. Peggy will be at the Forum and is again, hoping you'll join her for a happy hour.

If you have any ideas and suggestions, I'd love to hear from you, this is your group, we at AIIM are here to "make it happen".

Again, thank you for bringing this up, and for being so keen. I can't wait to many of you in San Antonio.

Thanks
George

I would love to assist in the leadership/planning initiatives for the group.

Disclaimer:  I am new to the group and to AIIM so I don't have a lot of background on what type of things that have been done in the past.

With that said, I do think having a strong networking/mentoring/support group is one of the most valuable assets of any organization where people feel really free to ask the tough questions and get honest answers on improving their organization and themselves.
