To the AIIM Community,

I had previously shared this information via LinkedIn this past Monday, January 25th 2016, so this news might be redundant to some but I felt a deep obligation to also share with you, the AIIM Community.  You have been, and will continue to be, an important part of my professional career.  We are a tightnit group and although people move-around from place to place we always seem to find common objectives.  It's my sincere desire to continue to contribute, learn and discuss Information Management strategies, concepts and trends with you long into the future.

*********

Monday, January 25th 2016, was my last day as an ABBYY employee.

I wish to thank ABBYY for 4+ years of interesting times.  My time at ABBYY consisted of two polar opposite responsibilities from Strategic to Tactical where, working with many of my stunning colleagues, we achieved much.  In particular I would like to thank Dean Tang (ABBYY USA President/CEO) for his trust, mentor-ship and, most importantly, friendship.  Dean is a great person; he’s a strategic thinker and is absolutely passionate about his partner’s success.  I look forward to continuing our friendship long into the future.

I anticipate that the most asked question I will get when people hear this news is, ‘where are you going?’ or ‘what are you going to do?’.  Therefore, let me answer succinctly and directly.  I will be doing more of what I’ve been basically doing for the last 20+ years which is working on my website design and hosting business, P3iD (you can read a bit about the business with some examples on my LinkedIn profile).  Many years ago I made a commitment to put this small business on the back-burner while I re-entered the corporate world, which I did.  Now my entrepreneurial spirit is too strong that I wish to revive the business with some minor modifications/enhancements.  Primarily I wish to provide fully functional websites with e-commerce features to friends, family and other entrepreneurial persons where you can Be Your Own Boss.  If you are interested in starting to build up your own side-business in your spare time then fill out this application for more details.

Another thing I will be doing more of is non-biased information sharing and education.  As a Professional Member and ‘Expert Blogger’ on the topic of 'Capture' for the non-profit organization, AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management), I have sincerely enjoy sharing my experience with others.  This is sort of a pay-it-forward attitude as I’m so grateful to others that have educated me in my career without asking anything in return.

One blog post from many years ago in 2010, with the picture I created below, probably best articulates my current philosophy on the technology market.  There is a huge technology convergence towards Emerging Cloud Applications and Services.  This realization might seem obvious now but I can assure you, without a doubt, there were many naysayers, doubters and out-right disbelievers that ‘The Cloud’ could ever be a viable business model just a few short years ago.

I expounded in great detail the individual partsin achieving an overall Capture solution 'In The Cloud' with a series of blog posts that includedUser Experience/Interface,Capture/Transformation and Business Policy/Workflow.  It's my hope that I have provided a general, high-level, consideration for each part and that subject matter experts in these particular focus area's can add their expertise for others to learn and consider for their particular requirements.

This personal interest in openly sharing my thoughts and experience related to technology has become somewhat of an obsession where I have created theIsAFad.com Brand family of web properties.  I hope to be able to spend more time building out these websites which contain industry news, company stock performance opinions as well as interesting discussions. IsAFad.com is a series of websites, dripping with sarcasm, about various undeniable technology topics for obvious emerging trends such asBigDataIsAFad.comNetworkingScanningIsFad.comMobileIsAFad.com,InformationGovernanceIsAFad.com and many others.  What started many years ago as my purchase of the CloudIsAFad.com domain name has become my professional identity and is growing quickly as a viral sensation.  I am always looking for new and interesting content so if you would like to be a Celebrity Contributor then please join in on the fun.

One of the websites which I have put most effort isNoManualDataEntry.com. With having so much experience in thedocument scanning and document capture market it was obvious that I could contribute a lot of content on the topic of increasing business productivity, decreasing operational costs and assisting with adherence to compliance by using automation, instead of manual labor, to perform tedious tasks such as Data Entry.  I wrote a nine-part series of Innovative Solutions for Box that included for each a (1) Use Case Scenario, (2) Features and Benefits and then (3) Solution Description with step-by-step instructions to configure these solutions for yourself.

So, in summary, as you can see my personal and professional interests are quite synergistic and I’m truly a proud technology-geek.  I think that I have unique perspective based on my experience from customer service manager, network administrator, business developer, hands-on design/implementation and I feel strongly that this current technology convergence will afford strategic/innovative thinkers a great opportunity;  not only for their professional career but also to absolutely make a positive change for humanity to enrich peoples’ lives.  I’m always on the hunt to strength my professional network of individuals with like-minded attitudes so if you don’t know me and are inspired with what you just read, then please contact me.  If you do know me personally then please keep in close contact as technology is moving fast and it’s my belief that, more than ever, it takes a small, yet savvy, group to offer solutions in this new era of ‘The Cloud’.

I’m super easy to find via LinkedIn, AIIM communitySlideShare, YouTube, Twitter (@kevinneal2001) or via e-mail.

Looking forward to seeing what’s next in the “Cloudy Future”.

Sincerely,

Kevin
