Missed AIIM 2014? Or did you just miss out on a session or three you wanted to see? In the coming weeks, we'll be sharing many of the presentations with you. Actionable advice and thought leadership brought to you by some of the smartest people in the information technology industry.

Bassam Zarkout presented The Future Through Looking GLASS.

Life used to be simple – information was very well structured, lived in a handful of well-managed physical and electronic repositories and the life of the Records Manager was straightforward. Over the past decade, organizations have amassed vast quantities of business information, dispersed and scattered – each with its own regulatory and legal requirements causing organizations to be behind when it comes to governing their information assets. Progressing to information governance should not be deferred.

Bassam Zarkout, CTO of RSD S.A., is a thought leader in the Information Governance space (conception, design, development and implementation of IG platforms and is a frequent public speaker on these subjects. Zarkout has over 20 year experience in Information Governance solutions, including Records Management, eDiscovery, Regulatory Compliance, Privacy, and Audit Trail Management. He has a deep understanding of the impact of laws, regulations and standards in these areas: US DoD 5015.2, MoReq, FRCP, SOX, SEC 17a-4, and ISO standards such as 15489 (RM) and 14721:2003 (OAIS Archival Reference Model). Zarkout also has in-depth experience with various document-centric technologies including ECM, Email Archiving, Report Output Archiving, Document Imaging, and Workflow. For almost two decades, Zarkout has been involved in enterprise information governance projects at large enterprises, including US Department of Defense, Canada’s Department of National Defence, major global financial services organizations (banks and insurance companies), major automotive manufacturers, etc. Zarkout holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mechanical) from the American University of Beirut.
