Back in 2006, I was certified as an AIIM ECM Master. I went all the way from little Denmark to Tampa for the training, but I thought it was necessary to show the world that I was serious about ECM. This proved to be a very valuable investment. I could prove to customers that I had the required skills to help them with the ECM challenges and needs. In 2008, I wrote the first book about ECM in Danish and it was published just before 2009; ECM – Enterprise Content Management, ISBN: 9788779008311
This would not have been possible, had I not taken the AIIM training. The training and my book lead to invitations to give keynotes and talks on ECM and related topics in Denmark and around Europe. I ended up as president of the European association for Content and Document Management (CDM Europe). I truly credit all of these accomplishments to the AIIM training I got. Since I have actually taken the ECM Specialist class twice. Not because I’m stupid and forget stuff, but to keep up with best practices and to know more than my competitors do.
Now I am with Konica Minolta Business Solutions Denmark, where I head the ECM initiatives in Denmark. Due to my past with AIIM, people from Konica Minolta in other European countries still come to me for my input and for training on ECM.
In December 2014, I had the letters ‘ECM’ tattooed in my upper arm. If you take ECM just half as serious as I do, I can highly recommend that you get yourself certified as soon as possible, and start showing the world you also mean business!
